‘The Butterslip Hornpipe’ is a composition of Tommy’s. He names it after the Butterslip walkway in the heart of Kilkenny City which dates back as far as the 1750s. This stoney pavement is where butter was traditionally sold on market days. The tune was composed on fiddle in a now famous musical house for visiting and local musicians on Abbey Street in Kilkenny City. This tune is ultimately an ode to the beautiful city of Kilkenny where Tommy now resides.
The second hornpipe is one we acquired from the playing of uilleann piper, Emmet Gill, who in turn found this tune linked to the playing of renowned Donegal fiddle player, Frank Cassidy. Unable to come across any other title or source for this tune, we settled on naming it ‘Frank Cassidy’s’.

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman
