Tommy learned ‘Rooney’s’ from an old recording of master fiddler, Bryan Rooney from Kiltyclogher, Co. Leitrim. This particular recording of Bryan was made some time in the 1990s by Tommy Maree who had the lend of a DAT machine from the Irish Traditional Music Archive and in turn made some recordings of musicians in London at the time.
‘Sound Man, Éamonn’ is a composition of the great fiddle player, piano accompanist, composer and fellow Kiltyclogher man, Charlie Lennon. Charlie dedicated this particular composition to Eamonn Goggin who was a close friend and also the sound engineer on his album ‘Turning the Tune’.

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman
