‘It May Well Be’ was composed by Dónal in May 2015 while in quite a contemplative mindset. Having sent a recording of this tune to Johnny Óg Connolly, Johnny, in turn, wrote a hornpipe inspired by snippets of Dónal’s hornpipe and named it ‘The Monaghan Fiddler’. Johnny recorded this tune on Track 4 of his ‘Siar’ album.

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman
