The first tune in this set is an old favourite and is often referred to in sessions as ‘The Old Gold Ring’.
The second jig in this set is associated with the playing of the late, great Pádraig O’Keeffe. It features as part of a set of jigs played by Pádraig titled ‘Sheehan’s’ on an album compiled by RTÉ entitled ‘Tuning the Radio’. The recording of O’Keeffe was made on the 29 January 1949 and the tune is thought to be related to Turlough O’Carolan’s composition, ‘John O’Connor’.

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman
